Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Salary: 40-43K per annum dependent on skills and experience
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join a well-established manufacturing facility based in Winsford in a carefully fostered friendly team environment. This role sits within the 5 person maintenance team and plays a key part in ensuring plant equipment and site facilities operate safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime.
The client works in in the material handling sector so candidates will require prior experience within heavy, “dirty” industries e.g. mining, material handling. A recognised relevant engineering qualification will also be necessary e.g. apprenticeship, NVQs and this role will not suit candidates at an operator level with some maintenance experience.
This is a full-time permanent role with hours 7.30am – 3.30pm. Over time they will join the emergency on-call cover rota, covering one week per month, although call outs are said to be very rare. Flexibility for occasional weekend work and overtime will also be required. A salary up to 43K per annum is available however this is dependent on obtaining level 3 approval so candidates should expect to begin on a little less before taking on board extra responsibilities.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining plant machinery and site equipment in line with company EHS standards and legislative requirements, supporting the site in meeting production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical maintenance on plant equipment and site facilities as directed by the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Planner
- Assist with instrumentation and electrical maintenance where skills and competency allow
- Identify equipment issues or improvement opportunities and report findings to the maintenance team
- Follow all safe operating procedures and EHS requirements
- Participate in out-of-hours work and maintenance call-outs when required by the business
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop and ensure plant areas are left tidy following maintenance work
- Support continuous improvement and reliability of plant operations
Skills and Experience
- Qualified Maintenance Technician or relevant mechanical engineering qualification
- Previous experience within heavy engineering or industrial manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of motors and gearboxes
- Welding experience
- Experience with rotating equipment such as blenders and mixers
- Knowledge of equipment including:
- Hammer mills and grinding mills
- Screw conveyors and belt conveyors
- Bucket elevators
- Rotary valves
- Pneumatic valves
- Blowers and blowing lines
- Good understanding of plant equipment and operations
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new plant technologies
