Procurement Manager
Location: Bolton
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday–Thursday 8:00am–5:00pm, Friday 8:00am–12:00pm)
Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 per annum
Type: Permanent

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to lead a strategic and operational procurement function within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role will focus on ensuring the supply chain is fully aligned with production plans while building strong, long-term partnerships with key suppliers. You will play a central role in developing robust sourcing strategies, particularly for steel and critical materials, ensuring supply reliability and cost efficiency across major programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier lead times and capacity to ensure materials and components are delivered in line with manufacturing schedules.
  • Utilise ERP systems to maintain real-time visibility of order progress, material accuracy, and workshop requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with key suppliers to support major production programmes.
  • Develop partnership-led supplier agreements that strengthen supplier commitment and performance.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews, monitoring delivery and quality standards.
  • Design and implement effective procurement strategies, particularly for steel and construction-related materials.
  • Develop tailored procurement plans to support large-scale, technically demanding projects.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, and Project teams to align procurement activities with technical and project requirements.
  • Lead high-value commercial negotiations to achieve best value while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
  • Support additional procurement-related duties as required.

About You

  • Proven experience in a procurement leadership or management role.
  • Strong background within a manufacturing environment, ideally supporting major projects or complex production operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop supplier relationships and negotiate high-value contracts.
  • Experience managing and developing procurement teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Experience using ERP systems within a procurement function is desirable.
