Location: Widnes
Salary: £50,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm
Type: Permanent

We are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a well-established UK manufacturing business based in Widnes. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong multi-discipline skills, ideally with an electrical background, who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment.

The Role

As a Site Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment and site services. You will be responsible for ensuring machinery runs efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production equipment
  • Responding quickly to breakdowns and carrying out fault diagnosis and repair
  • Supporting installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
  • Working across electrical and mechanical systems
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and safety
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety procedures

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Site Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or similar role
  • Multi-skilled engineering background (electrical bias preferred)
  • Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good understanding of health and safety standards
  • A proactive and reliable approach to maintenance and problem solving

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
  • Experience working with production machinery or manufacturing lines
  • PLC fault-finding experience
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement or lean manufacturing principles
