Mechanical Estimator / Tendering Engineer

Working Hours: Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm, Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a global leader in low-carbon, cost-effective energy and battery storage solutions, for a Mechanical Estimator / Tendering Engineer to join their Sales Team in Manchester. This will be a full time office based role. Some scope for hybrid working (2 days per week from home) may be possible after an initial probationary period where full time office attendance will be necessary.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Estimator / Tendering Engineer, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders and proposals to support the company’s power generation sales efforts. You will ensure proposals are technically and commercially sound, translating customer requirements into cost-effective solutions.
Mechanical Estimator / Tendering Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and evaluate tender documentation for technical and commercial viability.
- Conduct site visits to support rate accuracy and proposal relevance.
- Prepare budgetary estimates and formal bid submissions.
- Liaise with CAD technicians to produce layout drawings and P&IDs.
- Maintain effective communication with clients throughout the proposal process.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Use CRM systems for tracking and reporting proposal progress.
Mechanical Estimator / Tendering Engineer Essential Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years’ experience OR HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years’ experience
- Technical experience in energy project design, development, and managementIn-depth knowledge of power generation systems (reciprocating engines, batteries, standby systems)
- Strong skills in MS Office, AutoCAD, MS Project, and CRM tools
- Understanding of building cost models and pricing strategies
- Proven experience creating and checking proposals for tendering
- Full UK driving licence
