We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Designer for our multidisciplinary design and build contractor client on pharmaceutical industry projects.
This position offers a contract duration of 3-6 months (outside IR35) and will be in Macclesfield, with a competitive rate of £40-£48 per hour (Ltd Company). This is a hybrid role with 3 days in office and 2 remote.
Role Overview
The Senior Electrical Designer will play a crucial role in supporting the local projects team by providing expert Electrical Engineering, Design, and Consulting Services. This position demands a high level of autonomy and exceptional communication skills.
Applicants should possess a solid technical engineering design background, along with relevant experience in the pharmaceutical sector.
Role Detail Description:
The Senior Electrical Designer will collaborate closely with the Multi Discipline Design Team and Project Manager to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of pharmaceutical projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and assessing customer needs.
- Providing resource estimates for design-related activities.
- Generating reports, scope of works, concept designs, and detailed designs (typically RIBA 2-4).
- Supporting the timely, quality-driven, and cost-effective delivery of projects, with the ability to multitask and prioritise.
- Creating documentation in accordance with defined standards and quality requirements.
- Liaising with design and equipment subcontractors.
- Leading performance improvement efforts by exploring, evaluating, and implementing innovative solutions where appropriate.
- Collaborating with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC, and Civil.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in a relevant design role including successful delivery of electrical installation designs within projects for the pharmaceutical sector.
- HNC or Degree in technical engineering related subject
- Membership of professional Institution or similar body is desirable.
- Experience in UK pharmaceutical construction projects is desirable.
- Experience of E&I design best practices.
- Project lifecycle experience (Concept through detail design to construction support)
- Knowledge of data and administrative management practices and procedures
- Sound experience and knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
- Undertake site surveys.
- Provision of 2D and 3D Design Deliverables, GAs, equipment layouts and cable/containment routing diagrams
- Single line diagrams
- Earthing diagrams
- Experience in electrical building services design including LV Distribution, Lighting, Small Power, Fire Safety Systems, Security Systems, Structured Cabling etc.

- Proficient use of the following software packages:
- AutoCAD LT
- Relux/Dialux
- Electrical OM Cable Sizing Software / Trimble pro-design
- Navisworks
- Revit (Desirable)
- Microsoft suite of programs
