Description

We are currently supporting a client with the appointment of a Construction Manager for a short-term contract role based near Braunton / Ilfracombe, working on the construction of a new laboratory facility. This is a site-based position offering an immediate start, with work expected to continue until early September 2026.

This role has been determined as Inside IR35 due to the level of client supervision and control over the working arrangements. A competitive umbrella rate of £400–£500 per day is available, depending on experience.

The Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for all on-site construction activities associated with the delivery of a laboratory build project. This will involve overseeing contractors, maintaining high safety and quality standards, and ensuring works are delivered in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a positive health & safety culture across site activities
  • Strive to achieve an accident-free working environment
  • Oversee the quality and standard of all installation works
  • Ensure the project is delivered to agreed timescales
  • Chair daily contractor briefings and monitor planning/progress against the current PDR board
  • Coordinate and manage site operations across construction, HVAC, mechanical and electrical works

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing turnkey construction projects
  • Strong background in construction, HVAC, mechanical and electrical installations
  • Previous experience within pharmaceutical or healthcare environments is highly desirable
  • Experience delivering laboratory and/or cleanroom projects would be advantageous
  • Client-focused with the ability to build strong working relationships on site

Qualifications

  • SMSTS (essential)
  • NVQ Level 6 (preferred)
  • Temporary Works Coordinator certification (preferred)

PPE will be provided.
