Stockport

Full-time | Permanent

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Friday: 8:30am – 4:00pm

We are looking for a Mechanical Design / Process Design Engineer to join a growing Projects & Design Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer to play a key role in delivering cutting-edge energy projects, including Combined Heat and Power (CHP), Tri Generation and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

You’ll be part of a collaborative and technically strong environment, where your expertise will directly contribute to innovative solutions that improve efficiency, reduce costs and support the transition to net zero.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Mechanical Design / Process Design Engineer, you will lead the mechanical design aspects of energy projects from concept through to commissioning and operation.

You will:

  • Produce detailed engineering documentation, including specifications, process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Develop functional and technical design documents
  • Perform pipe and pump sizing calculations
  • Carry out safety assessments and ensure compliance with relevant standards
  • Coordinate CAD design activities to ensure quality and timely delivery
  • Work closely with project managers, suppliers and internal teams
  • Support cost-effective project delivery and assist with budgeting
  • Manage supplier performance in line with project quality plans
  • Provide technical support on-site, including layout surveys and troubleshooting

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Solid experience as a Mechanical Engineer within power generation or similar sectors
  • Strong knowledge of pipework and ventilation design, CDM regulations and health & safety standards
  • At least five years’ experience in technical management and energy project development
  • Experience using AutoCAD 3D (or similar) and Microsoft Office
  • HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • A full UK driving licence
