Project Controls Manager – Nuclear (Contract)
Location: Warrington or Cumbria (Hybrid – 3 days on site/office, 2 days remote)
Contract Length: 6 months
Rate: £70 per hour – Outside IR35
Start Date: ASAP
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Controls Manager to join a major Nuclear EPC project on an initial 6-month contract. This role will provide management oversight across cost and planning functions, supporting both internal teams and external consultants and contractors.
The Role
Reporting into the project leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the Project Controls function, ensuring robust planning, cost control, reporting, and risk management are embedded across the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the Project Controls team, covering cost management and planning activities
• Develop, maintain and improve Project Controls systems, procedures, and plans in line with client requirements
• Produce and manage detailed delivery and installation schedules and budgets
• Monitor and report on project performance, progress, trends, and forecasts
• Actively manage project risks, identifying and mitigating potential impacts to scope, schedule, and cost
• Work closely with Quality Management to ensure effective quality control and assurance processes
• Identify and manage scope, schedule, and budget changes promptly
• Oversee project metrics including productivity and production rates
• Prepare and manage project review materials and financial forecasts
• Produce and oversee key project reports including Gantt charts, S-curves, histograms, critical path analysis, and progress reports
• Liaise closely with the client and stakeholders, providing clear updates on progress, forecasts, and schedule changes
• Provide leadership and direction across multiple functional areas, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget
Skills & Experience Required
• Proven experience in a Project Controls Manager role on large EPC projects (Nuclear experience highly advantageous)
• Strong people management and leadership skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Advanced Primavera P6 experience and strong knowledge of planning tools
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to independently produce Level 3 schedules, manpower histograms, Gantt charts and S-curves
• Strong analytical, planning, organisation, and reporting capability
• Fluent in written and spoken English

Must hold a UK passport
Security Clearance required (support available to obtain clearance if not already held)
