Deputy Security Manager Permanent | North West 

DATS Recruitment is seeking an experienced Deputy Security Manager to join a leading organisation within a highly regulated sector. This is a key position supporting the delivery of robust security across operations, ensuring compliance with national and international legislation, standards and internal policies.

This role offers a broad remit spanning physical, personnel, document and IT security, as well as liaison with regulatory bodies and coordination of specialist security functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Security Manager to ensure full compliance with national and international security laws, regulations and requirements
  • Ensure adherence to internal security policies across the business
  • Report any security compliance failures to senior stakeholders and, when required, support regulatory reporting
  • Act as a primary interface with regulatory bodies and maintain close working relationships
  • Produce clear and accurate security reports, procedures and operational instructions
  • Deliver security training and awareness programmes to employees, contractors and suppliers
  • Coordinate externally provided security services, including guarding
  • Oversee the physical security of buildings, assets and associated infrastructure
  • Coordinate cyber security processes relating to UK-based ICT systems
  • Conduct security inspections and audits across multiple sites
  • Support the process of obtaining and maintaining required security clearances
  • Manage access to sensitive information and materials in line with clearance levels
  • Attend specialist external training as required
  • Work closely with international counterparts across security, export control and safeguards
  • Coordinate export control and nuclear safeguards activities to ensure compliance with UK, international and European Commission requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree-level education
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a security role, ideally within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of UK national security standards
  • Proven experience across all key security disciplines: physical, personnel, document and IT
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and deliver training effectively
  • Strong team-working ability, engaging confidently across multifunctional and multicultural environments
  • Proactive approach with the confidence to identify and implement improvements
  • Flexibility to travel to other sites as required
