EC&I Senior Engineer
Immediate Start – Contract with potential to go permanent
We are looking for a Senior EC&I Engineer to join ongoing compliance and engineering projects supporting clients in the industrial and process sectors. This is a leading role providing engineering oversight, technical assurance and client support across multiple sites.
The role begins as soon as possible, initially up to Christmas, with continuation to March 2026 and the opportunity for a permanent appointment.
Contract Details
• Engagement Options: Ltd contractors or permanent
• Rates:
o Ltd: £40–£55 per hour
o Perm: £55,000 – £60,000 (potentially higher for a Lead appointment, up to ~£80k)
• Start Date: ASAP
• Duration: Initial 4–5 weeks, extending to March 2026 dependent on performance
The Role
As a Senior EC&I Engineer, you will support compliance, inspection, testing and engineering activities, ensuring operational standards, regulatory obligations and customer expectations are achieved. You will play a key technical role in helping clients upgrade, optimise and maintain systems across chemical and industrial sites.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver and oversee EC&I engineering and compliance activities
• Produce and review technical documentation, specifications and reports
• Develop engineering design packages including:
o Hazardous and non-hazardous equipment specifications
o Safety instrumented system calculations
o Loop drawings, schedules and single-line diagrams
o Testing, inspection and maintenance documents
• Provide technical support to inspection and site teams, including help with fault resolution
• Conduct site surveys and produce findings reports
• Support project planning, budget control and scheduling
• Develop strong client relationships and interpret their requirements into engineered solutions
• Travel to client sites and support urgent fault investigation where required
About You
• HNC or higher in Electrical, EC&I or related engineering discipline
• Ideally be incorporated engineer (IEng) or working towards
• Experience on industrial UK sites
• Knowledge of DSEAR / ATEX and ideally CompEx certification
• Strong understanding of functional safety and standards such as BSEN 61508 / 61511
• Good IT skills and experience with tools such as Excel, AutoCAD and MS Project
• Strong stakeholder-facing communication skills
• BS7671 18th Edition trained and working knowledge
