Research and Development Laboratory Technician

Up to £32,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
The Role
An opportunity has arisen within a Thin Film Technology R&D team working on the development of new coated products and processes. The role involves supporting a range of projects, from short-term product improvements to longer-term research initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
• Operating and maintaining laboratory coating and ancillary equipment
• Depositing thin films on glass and preparing substrates
• Carrying out durability testing
• Measuring optical, electrical and physical properties of coated glass
• Supporting problem-solving activities in both laboratory and production environments
What We’re Looking For
• An innovative, self-motivated team player with a strong interest in engineering, science and technology
• Experience and confidence in handling chemicals
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload
• Enjoyment of hands-on technical work
• GCSE/A Level grades 4–9 / A–C in maths and science
• A BTEC or HNC in a science or engineering subject is highly advantageous
• Experience maintaining and operating complex equipment is beneficial
• Knowledge of high-vacuum systems is desirable (full training provided)
• Competent in Microsoft applications
