Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Widnes
Employment Type: Permanent, Office-based
Salary: £27,000 – £55,000 (depending on experience)
Candidates will require existing eligibility to work in the UK. This is an office-based role – remote working is not available.
Our client, a leading supplier of material handling equipment, is looking for Mechanical Design Engineers to join their design team in Widnes. The company designs special-purpose machinery and systems across a wide range of industries including Automotive, Aerospace, FMCG, Logistics, and Modular Buildings.

Key Responsibilities
• Undertake feasibility studies to support project development.
• Produce detailed designs using Autodesk Inventor.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation throughout project lifecycles.
• Support simultaneous engineering activities in collaboration with other departments.
• Develop system layouts and 3D models for bespoke material handling solutions.
• Contribute to system simulation and functional design specification.
• Deliver bespoke equipment designs, adapting standard products where required.
• Carry out risk assessments and ensure designs meet CE marking and safety standards.

Skills & Experience
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD software.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and design for manufacture.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Previous experience in special-purpose machinery or material handling equipment design is desirable but not essential.
• Graduate engineers with strong CAD skills and enthusiasm to learn are encouraged to apply.
