Graduate – M&P Engineer

Location: Chester

Salary: up to £45K + excellent package

We are seeking Engineering Graduates to join a Graduate Development Programme (GDP) designed to provide well-rounded learning and development for graduate engineers with little or no experience in the nuclear industry. The programme aims to develop you into a fully competent Engineer.

The GDP satisfies the Corporate Membership training requirements of the Institutions of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). It offers a flexible training scheme tailored to each Trainee and is designed for those working towards Chartered Engineer status.

The Programme:
• 2 years of structured training across multiple sites to build robust knowledge of engineering functions and processes
• Reporting directly to the Engineering Section Manager, you will be assigned a Mentor and receive coaching support
• Guidance and support to achieve chartered status accreditation upon completion
• Accredited with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (Monitored Professional Development Scheme)
• Some travel within Europe may be required to meet learning objectives

You will learn to:
• Understand the role of key departments including Engineering, R&D, Commercial, Manufacturing, Plant Operations and Safety
• Recognise relevant aspects of deployed and supported technology
• Apply fundamental engineering knowledge to design and analyse complex systems and processes using advanced modelling tools
• Manage complete work packages, preparing and verifying design and analysis deliverables to meet customer needs
• Deliver professional and competent design and operational support
• Support site installation, testing and commissioning

Qualifications & Skills:
• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering with the ambition to become Chartered
• Desire to develop design and analysis skills in fluid dynamics, heat transfer and process modelling
• Well organised, motivated and ambitious with strong teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility and openness to potential international development opportunities
• IT literacy in Microsoft packages essential
• Knowledge of programming for process modelling advantageous (e.g. Matlab, Simulink)
• Additional languages (French, Dutch or German) would be an advantage
