Job Title: Commercial Manager
Salary: £80,000 – £90,000 + Car Allowance
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Warrington (Hybrid working available post-probation)
You’ll be joining a business with over 100 years of industry experience, delivering multidisciplinary design and build services across the water, power & energy, pharmaceutical, nuclear, and food & beverage sectors. They provide next-generation, value-added engineering solutions that help safeguard vital infrastructure, extend asset life, and ensure compliance with the highest quality and environmental standards.
The Intention of the Role
This role is designed to be the commercial lead for work winning and pre-contract activities. You will take ownership of commercial reviews, bid strategies and risk management, ensuring the business grows in a sustainable and deliberate way.
What will you be doing?
- Leading and coordinating commercial/legal reviews of contracts, including Bespoke, NEC3 & 4, JCT, and FIDIC.
- Preparing cashflow forecasts and fee/cost mark-ups for bids.
- Developing route-to-margin strategies and maintaining bidding risk registers.
- Supporting bids for medium to large-scale projects (typically £1m–£230m).
- Ensuring successful handover of projects won to SBU commercial leads.
- Engaging with key stakeholders including estimating, operational, work winning, and SHEQ teams.
- Tracking win/loss ratios and collating lessons learned.
- Managing governance and compliance requirements for all bidding activity.
- Reporting and presenting bidding strategies at leadership level.
- Acting as an individual contributor, reporting directly into the Commercial Director.
- During quieter bidding periods, supporting the management of live projects as required.
- Contributing commercial expertise to projects across pharmaceutical, nuclear, industrial, and infrastructure markets within the MEICA sector.

What you’ll bring
- Strong background in contract review, negotiation and commercial strategy.
- Experience with NEC, JCT, FIDIC and bespoke forms of contract.
- Great communication skills, able to build connections at all levels.
- A positive, customer-focused attitude that shines through every interaction.
- Solid IT abilities to support smooth day-to-day working.
- A relevant degree or professional qualification (Chartered status preferred).
- Experience in the nuclear industry would be a plus.
