Description

We’re currently recruiting for a Design Lead to join our client’s team – a well-established design and build consultancy operating within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, and healthcare sectors. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-value, technically complex projects across regulated environments.

Based at the company’s Head Office, you will manage multidisciplinary design teams and take responsibility for the full design delivery lifecycle. This position would suit a senior design professional with strong leadership experience in cleanroom, laboratory or technical construction environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design process from appointment to project completion
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, including internal and external consultants
  • Develop and manage the Design Execution Plan and BIM Execution Plan Chair design and progress meetings with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health and safety standards, and ISO 9001 procedures
  • Oversee the production of clear, high-quality design documentation suitable for construction
  • Monitor design programmes, deliverables, and budgets, escalating issues where necessary
  • Manage client changes and advise on time and cost implications
  • Support the estimating team during early-stage design phases
  • Mentor junior design staff and support professional development

Requirements:

  • HNC qualified (minimum) in Building Studies; degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in senior design roles
  • Strong technical knowledge across architectural, M&E, and public health disciplines
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, cleanroom or healthcare facility design
  • Confident managing client relationships and leading project delivery
  • Good understanding of construction methods and relevant legislation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project tools; knowledge of Revit preferred
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and CDM Regulations
