We are seeking a Machinery / Mechanical Engineer specialising in Wind Turbine Generators to support our client based in Surrey, UK.
These will be temporary contract roles starting in early March with an anticipated duration of 6 months although further extensions may be possible. This will be to work on a large green ammonia project in Saudi Arabia to sustainably supply carbon-free green hydrogen for transportation globally.

We are looking for a Principal Wind Turbine Generator Engineer with significant onshore wind industry experience
The new facility will be powered by renewable power from solar panels and a large onshore wind farm. The successful candidate will act as the company's primary technical contact with the Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) OEM on this mega project, providing technical oversight of the OEM's execution of the Turbine Supply Agreement (TSA) and technical interface coordination with the Balance of Plant (BoP) EPC.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
As a Principal Wind Turbine Generator Engineer, you will:
" Review and evaluate WTG OEM proposals against project specifications and results of site surveys (topographical, hydrological, wind pattern measurement, background noise etc.) and participate in technical clarification meetings to develop and align OEM proposals with project requirements and ensure optimal selection for placement of TSA
" Identify technical risks and develop an effective technical risk mitigation plan
" Participate in targeted engineering design reviews with the OEM to support execution of the technical risk mitigation plan (as appropriate)
" Participate in review of overall wind farm layout
" Review in conjunction with Electrical , Civil and instrumentation disciplines the key OEM technical data and drawings to ensure delivery against the agreed scope of the TSA and coordinate the technical interfaces between the WTG OEM and BoP EPC (foundations, electrical system, SCADA, etc.)
" Review key technical drawings to ensure mechanical operational and maintenance needs are accounted for
" Review type certification and site-specific design assessments
" Review power curve and noise performance testing procedures
" Witness key inspections at OEM (and their sub-suppliers) factories
" Witness key milestone activities during installation and commissioning (OEM-led activities)
" Witness power curve and noise performance site testing
" International travel to OEMs (and their sub-suppliers) and the site location is expected at appropriate times throughout the project delivery
Key Requirements, Experience & Qualifications
To be successful as a Principal Wind Turbine Engineer, you will have:
" Minimum of degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or related)
" Chartered Engineer (CEng) or European Engineer (EurIng) status
" Strong experience in onshore wind farm development and project delivery and working with the world's leading WTG OEMs
" Working knowledge of applicable industry standards including the IEC 61400 series
" Experience with new WTG models and the site specific and type certification process
" Experience with reviewing wind farm noise modelling reports
" Experience with performance testing
" Experience with WTG applications for hot and dusty/sandy environments would be beneficial (implications for high temperature power de-rating, enhanced sealing, cooling systems, corrosion and erosion protection etc.)
" Experience with gearbox-drive and direct-drive arrangements would be beneficial
" A self-starter motivated by technical challenge and creating innovative solutions
