We're currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Middleton, Manchester.
This is a varied role offering the chance to work on innovative engineered products and systems from concept through to manufacture, collaborating closely with Production, Projects, and Procurement teams to deliver robust, compliant, and customer-focused solutions.
This position would suit someone with previous experience in a mechanical design role within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Please note this is not a graduate or entry-level opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative mechanical equipment and engineered solutions
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
- Support projects from concept through to manufacture
- Conduct engineering calculations and analyses including FEA and hand calculations
- Improve and simplify existing designs to reduce costs and improve manufacturability
- Produce and review technical documentation
- Participate in design reviews and engineering change processes
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry regulations and company standards
- Investigate and resolve engineering and production queries
- Maintain accurate project and design documentation
Skills & Experience Required
- HND or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline
- Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering role
- Strong 3D CAD experience
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles and calculations
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA)
- Familiarity with engineering materials and applications
- Understanding of industry standards and regulations including:
- Machinery Safety Directive
- PED
- ATEX
- REACH
- Proficient with Microsoft Office packages including Excel and Word

- Working hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
- Friday: 7:30am – 12:30pm
