Description

We are currently seeking a BIM Lead to support our client based in Bolton on a permanent staff basis. This will be a full time role but working 37 hours per week across 4 days - Monday to Thursday. This is strictly permanent staff with salaries negotiable depending on level of suitability and experience between 55 and 65K per annum plus benefits packages – stated below. Candidates must possess current eligibility to work in the UK without need for an additional work permit.

Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

 

The Role

The BIM Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes across the business. The role ensures the effective use of digital tools, data standards, and coordinated workflows to improve design quality, reduce rework, and support efficient project delivery.

This role combines strategic leadership of BIM with hands-on technical input where required, particularly in model coordination and clash detection activities. The BIM Manager acts as the focal point for BIM-related matters, working collaboratively with engineering, design, project teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure BIM outputs meet contractual, regulatory, and business requirements.

 

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company BIM strategy, standards, and digital workflows in line with business objectives.
  • Lead and promote BIM adoption across engineering, design, and project teams.
  • Establish, manage, and review BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and project-specific BIM requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 19650 and associated information management and data governance requirements.
  • Define and manage information structures, naming conventions, data requirements, and Common Data Environment (CDE) processes.
  • Apply configuration management principles, including information baselining, change control, and configuration registers.
  • Oversee the creation, coordination, and integration of multidisciplinary models across projects.
  • Lead model coordination and clash detection activities, undertaking hands-on coordination where required.
  • Ensure model accuracy, consistency, and compliance with contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements.
  • Carry out audits of models, data, and BIM deliverables to ensure quality, traceability, and compliance.
  • Support integration between BIM, CAD, and manufacturing systems (e.g. Revit, Navisworks, MicroStation, SolidWorks, Inventor).
  • Manage document control, versioning, approvals, and data integrity across projects.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for BIM-related matters, liaising with clients, project teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor BIM performance and drive continuous improvement, standardisation, and innovation.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance on BIM tools, processes, and best practice.
  • Develop and maintain internal BIM guidance, templates, and supporting documentation.
  • Support onboarding and upskilling of team members into BIM workflows.
  • Carry out checking and approval activities in accordance with company and project procedures.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role.

Key Responsibilities

Essential

  • Proven experience in a BIM Manager, Senior BIM Coordinator, or similar role.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 19650 and information management principles.
  • Proficiency in BIM tools such as Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Navisworks and/or Bentley MicroStation
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design coordination.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and/or design workflows.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining BIM standards and processes.
  • Experience managing and working within Common Data Environments (CDEs).
  • Ability to audit models and BIM outputs for compliance and quality.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and project teams.

 

Desirable

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Professional BIM certification (e.g. BIM Level 2 / ISO 19650 training)
  • Experience applying configuration management principles, including baselining, change control, and configuration registers, within complex digital and engineering environment
  • Experience working in Bentley environments, including MicroStation and federated model coordination with mixed Autodesk and Bentley toolsets.
  • Experience working within manufacturing or bespoke engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of parametric and automation tools (e.g. Dynamo, DriveWorks).
  • Experience integrating BIM with CAD, manufacturing, or production systems.
  • Experience delivering BIM on complex or high-risk projects.
