We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Manager to support a major engineering and construction project based in Cambridge. This is a long-term contract opportunity offering a competitive day rate and the chance to play a key role in delivering quality assurance and control across a large-scale project.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Quality function, ensuring all QA/QC activities are delivered effectively, safely and in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the execution of QA/QC activities to support efficient project delivery and protect the commercial position of the business
  • Lead liaison with internal teams, external stakeholders and third-party inspectorates on all quality-related matters
  • Provide clear direction to the QA/QC team and ensure accurate reporting to the project leadership team
  • Ensure all engineering and construction activities comply with contract specifications and quality systems
  • Manage the preparation, control and submission of quality documentation and test records within required timescales
  • Promote strong communication and collaboration across the project team
  • Represent the organisation professionally when dealing with clients and external stakeholders

Technical Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the library of qualified welding procedures
  • Oversee welder qualification certificates, including required six-monthly reviews
  • Manage project-specific inspection and test activities and wider QA processes
  • Ensure all required quality records and project data dossiers are compiled and submitted in a timely manner
  • Conduct and report on internal management system audits
  • Support and coordinate third-party and vendor audits, including follow-up actions

Skills & Experience

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritise QA/QC activities and work effectively under time constraints
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Qualifications & Background

  • Relevant professional or vocational qualification in quality, engineering or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience within the construction, engineering, or contracting industry
  • Proven track record of supporting the successful delivery of engineering or construction projects

Additional Information

  • Start: ASAP
  • Contract expected to run until the end of 2026, with potential extension into Q1 2027
  • 11-day fortnight working pattern
  • Candidates based locally to the Cambridge area are preferred
