Senior Planning Engineer
Location: North West England (hybrid working available after probation)
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
We are seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join a leading engineering and infrastructure team delivering complex, high-value projects across multiple sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping and driving project delivery through effective planning, scheduling, and collaboration.
The Role
You will be responsible for developing and managing detailed project schedules, ensuring programmes are realistic, efficient, and aligned with project objectives. Working closely with project teams and stakeholders, you will provide critical insight into timelines, risks, and performance to keep projects on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project
- Monitor project progress, identify delays, and implement mitigation strategies
- Analyse critical paths and ensure programmes remain aligned with delivery targets
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment
- Produce regular reports, including S-curves, productivity analysis, and progress updates
- Support resource planning, forecasting, and cost control activities
- Ensure planning processes meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards
About You
- 3–5+ years’ experience in construction planning and scheduling
- Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar planning tools
- Strong understanding of construction methods, drawings, and project documentation
- Experience in budgeting, cost control, and resource planning
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and risk management skills
- Knowledge of large-scale infrastructure projects and BIM (desirable)
- Flexible approach with willingness to travel as required
