Quantity Surveyor
Location: Office-based (with potential for hybrid working on Friday mornings)
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday–Thursday 8:00–17:00, Friday 8:00–12:00)

We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially focused professional to play a key role in managing project costs, improving value, and supporting successful project delivery.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full commercial lifecycle of projects, from tender support through to final account settlement. You will work closely with Project Managers and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, within budget, and in line with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor project programmes to identify delays and assess entitlement to extensions of time
  • Manage contract change control processes, including timely submission of notices and agreement of variations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and stakeholders
  • Support the procurement and commercial management of subcontractors
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met
  • Attend project meetings including handovers, progress reviews, and contract reviews
  • Prepare and submit interim applications for payment and monitor cash flow and debt recovery
  • Maintain accurate contract documentation, including variations, applications, and notices
  • Provide commercial support to estimating and sales functions
  • Contribute to project reviews, identifying risks, opportunities, and lessons learned
  • Ensure compliance with commercial strategy, company procedures, and relevant legislation

About You

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a main contracting or project delivery environment
  • HND/Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
  • Strong knowledge of JCT, NEC, and/or ICHEME contracts
  • Proven experience in subcontractor procurement and commercial management
  • Solid understanding of cost control, estimation, and financial reporting (including earned value analysis)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Desirable

  • Membership of (or working towards) a professional body such as RICS
  • CSCS card
  • Experience building strong stakeholder relationships across all levels
