General Duties / Maintenance Technician

Location: Carrington, Greater Manchester
Contract Duration: 23 February 2026 – 22 August 2026

We are currently recruiting for a General Duties / Maintenance Technician to support a production facility based in Carrington, along with associated sites across the North West.

This role involves a high level of hands-on, practical work and requires flexibility, as travel between sites and occasional out-of-hours support will be expected.

Key Responsibilities

The General Duties / Maintenance Technician will provide general maintenance and support services to ensure production facilities remain safe, compliant, and fully operational. Duties include:

  • Supporting the assigned production facility to ensure all general duty activities are completed
  • Carrying out routine housekeeping and preventative maintenance in line with the GD work duties schedule
  • Supporting corrective maintenance activities in response to plant and equipment breakdowns
  • Ensuring all facilities are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition to meet performance targets
  • Ensuring compliance with site statutory requirements, mechanical integrity standards, and preventative maintenance programmes
  • Working closely with the Mechanical Maintenance team to support spares and consumables inventory management
  • Overseeing LOLER and PUWER inspections on site
  • Adhering to all health and safety standards at all times
  • Responding to requests to attend other locations during both normal and non-standard working hours, as required

Maintenance Technician Requirements

Essential:

  • Full, clean UK driving licence (travel across the North West required)
  • Forklift Truck (FLT) licence
  • Experience working on industrial or plant sites
  • Industrial or plant maintenance experience

Desirable Certifications:

  • IPAF (including ladder inspections)
  • Telehandler licence

Education:

  • GCSE Maths, English and Science at grade C or above, or equivalent relevant experience

  • Able to work independently and remotely
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work at pace and under pressure
  • Flexible and reliable, with the ability to respond to out-of-hours requirements

Additional Information

  • Overtime is likely to be available
  • Flexibility around start and finish times can be considered
