Instrument Technician (Permanent)
Location: Widnes (North West–based work)
We’re working with a growing engineering business who are looking to appoint a full-time Instrument Technician to join their team on a permanent basis due to continued growth.
The role is primarily North West–based, with occasional out-of-town projects throughout the year. All travel expenses for these are fully covered.
The role
You’ll be responsible for supporting instrumentation activities across a range of projects, including calibration, commissioning and fault finding. This is a hands-on role offering flexibility, paid travel time and long-term development opportunities.
Key responsibilities
- Calibrate instrumentation and produce calibration certificates using the company database
- Commission instrumentation on live projects
- Read and interpret design drawings
- Fault finding and troubleshooting
- Support site-based instrumentation activities as required
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Instrument Technician
- Strong understanding of instrumentation calibration and commissioning
- Ability to read technical drawings and fault find effectively
- CompEx Ex01–04 and Ex05–06 training is preferable but not essential as training and courses will be provided throughout the role.
Package & benefits
- Salary: £43,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience)
- Hours: 38-hour working week
- Flexi-time: Any hours worked over 38 can be banked and taken as time off or paid as overtime
- Travel time paid:
- Example: An 8-hour job with 30 minutes’ travel each way = 9 hours paid
- Mileage: 45p per mile (from the office to site)
- Holidays:
- 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Bankable overtime as holiday
- Additional 0.5 day added for each year of service
