Operations Engineer

Location: South London

Contract: Permanent | Full-time

We are currently looking for an experienced Operations Engineer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, supporting the maintenance and optimisation of a range of installations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with strong mechanical and electrical experience who enjoys problem-solving, field-based work and delivering high levels of customer satisfaction. Successful applications will be defined by possessing a suitable qualification in  mechanical/electrical engineering, motor vehicle studies or equivalent, along with 3 years experience as a Technician within mechanical/electrical discipline

The role

As an Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on installations. You’ll diagnose faults, implement reactive maintenance solutions and support the continuous improvement of operational processes to maximise efficiency and productivity.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on installations
  • Diagnosing faults and implementing effective repair solutions
  • Ensuring high standards of customer service at all times
  • Supporting the optimisation of operational processes to reduce downtime and material waste
  • Working independently in the field while collaborating with wider teams as required
  • Participating in a 24-hour callout rota, including occasional weekend and out-of-hours work

About you

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of ONC, NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds Level 2 in mechanical or electrical engineering, motor vehicle studies or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years’ industrial mechanical and/or electrical experience
  • Strong, in-depth knowledge of gas and diesel engines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills, including competence with Microsoft Office packages
  • A full, valid UK driving licence

Hours of work

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
  • Weekend and out-of-hours work required as part of a rota-based 24-hour callout programme
