The Role

We are currently looking for a Quality Controller (QC) to join our client. The purpose of this role is to ensure that products and services meet defined quality and functionality standards, and that company processes and project quality documentation are consistently delivered and adhered to across all business activities.

Location Bolton, Greater Manchester

Salary £35,000 - £45,000 dependant on experience

Working hours: This will be a full time 37 hour per week role however hours are condensed into 4 days meaning this is a Monday to Thursday post.

You will play a key role in supporting quality assurance throughout the supply chain, manufacturing, inspection, and despatch stages, working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and external inspectors.

Key Performance Indicators

• NCRs relating to shortages or non-conforming goods received
• NCRs relating to outsourced components post goods receipt
• On Time Delivery In Full (OTIF)
• Customer feedback
• Customer issue resolution timeframes

Key Responsibilities

• Execute quality processes and procedures, reporting any quality variances to the Quality Manager
• Support continuous improvement activities, including lessons learned
• Ensure quality processes and inspection methods are fit for purpose
• Monitor and control calibrated items and verification tools across all sites
• Inspect incoming goods and kits to ensure correctness, certification, and documentation prior to release to manufacture
• Identify, document, and manage defects, deviations, and non-conformances
• Maintain full traceability of components to purchase orders and project numbers
• Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional inspections using appropriate inspection equipment (e.g. CMM arms, micrometres, verniers)
• Carry out in-process and final inspections on internally produced components and shop fabrications, including weld inspections
• Ensure inspections are completed in line with quality plans, inspection and test plans, routings, drawings, and specifications
• Record and maintain quality and fabrication inspection records accurately
• Verify surface treatments and liaise with paint applicators to resolve quality issues
• Ensure NDT inspections are completed where required and reports are issued to the Quality Department promptly
• Confirm finished goods meet quality requirements, are correctly packed, and supported with appropriate documentation and photographic evidence
• Support despatch activities by ensuring all required quality documentation accompanies products
• Liaise with external inspection teams for product verification
• Produce and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and assist with root cause investigations
• Participate in project close-out and lessons-learned reviews
• Visit suppliers and vendors as required to inspect components within the supply chain
• Ensure compliance with health & safety requirements and company policies
• Monitor CoSHH cupboard contents across all sites
• Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

• Apprentice trained or equivalent experience in a similar manufacturing or engineering environment
• Certified licences to operate site-approved FLTs and overhead cranes
• Strong understanding of inspection techniques and ability to select appropriate inspection equipment
• Good numeracy, written, and IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Confident communicator, able to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
