Safety and Criticality Engineer
Location: Northwest England | Salary: £65,000–£85,000 + benefits
DATS are partnering with a world-leading organisation in the nuclear and energy sector to recruit a Safety and Criticality Engineer. This is a unique opportunity to work on technically challenging projects, ensuring safety and licensing standards are met at the highest level.
What you’ll do

Perform safety analysis for nuclear and chemical hazards, including criticality assessments.

Carry out HAZOP, HAZAN, and HAZID studies, and support verification analyses.

Produce criticality safety reports, dose calculations, and project licence documentation.

Provide technical guidance and respond to safety-related queries from clients.

Apply first-principles thinking to design out hazards and optimise safety systems.

Support compliance activities and ensure timely completion of documentation handovers.
What we’re looking for

Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.

5+ years’ experience in nuclear safety or criticality analysis.

Hands-on experience with MONK (criticality safety) and MCNP (dose calculations).

Strong communication and organisational skills. Able to work with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Flexible, with willingness to travel overseas or work outside normal hours when required.

French or German language skills are a plus.

Eligible for or holding DV Security Clearance.
