Site Manager – Materials Handling Sector Salary: £55,000–£60,000 per annum Location: UK & International Projects
DATS are looking for an ambitious Site Manager to join an established engineering team delivering major projects across the materials handling sector — including quarries, ports, industrial facilities, renewables, tunnelling and aggregates.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and proactive professional who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys taking ownership of complex technical projects. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards - across both UK and international sites.
The Role
Reporting to the Construction Manager, you’ll oversee multidisciplinary teams covering mechanical, structural, electrical, and civil construction activities. From planning mobilisation and managing contractors to leading daily briefings and ensuring compliance with CDM and Health & Safety standards, this role demands both leadership and precision.
You’ll liaise closely with head office while maintaining autonomy to make confident, informed decisions on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead site operations with a strong focus on Zero Harm and safety culture.
- Review and approve RAMS, Lift Plans and construction documentation.
- Manage site planning, scheduling and progress reporting.
- Supervise operatives, ensuring work quality and compliance with standards.
- Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks and regular site audits.
- Coordinate plant, equipment, and materials to meet project milestones.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across teams and contractors.
About You
You’ll have a proven background as a Site Manager (5–10 years) within construction or engineering, ideally with exposure to materials handling, conveyors, steel construction, or industrial sites.
You’re comfortable leading teams, solving problems on the spot, and maintaining meticulous attention to detail. Strong communication and decision-making skills are essential, as is flexibility to travel and work across varied project locations.
Requirements
- HNC/HND in an engineering or technical discipline.
- CSCS Black Card (or equivalent).
- SMSTS and First Aid at Work certification.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with engineering drawings.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable: IOSH/NEBOSH, degree-level qualification, experience in heavy engineering or commissioning, and knowledge of ATEX/DSEAR or ISO standards.
What’s on Offer
- Competitive salary: £55,000–£60,000 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Training and development opportunities
- Flexible benefits package
- Employee recognition and long service awards
- Access to wellbeing and discount programmes
If you’re a driven Site Manager looking to take the next step in your career — with the chance to work on technically challenging and diverse projects — we’d love to hear from you.
