Job Title: Senior / Engineer Level Rail Engineer – Drainage & Lineside Projects
Location: Glasgow (Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in office + site visits as required)

Rate: Up to £40 per hour

Duration: 12 months initially (potential for extension)

About the Role
We’re seeking experienced Rail Engineers at Engineer or Senior Engineer level to join a high-priority secondment supporting key infrastructure projects across drainage, geotechnical, and lineside civil engineering.
As a Rail Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering nationally significant programmes, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to improve resilience and performance across the rail network.

Key Responsibilities
• Support Drainage RAM workbank management and CP8 planning for high water-threat catchments.
• Deliver drainage and lineside projects where asset condition scores are missing or assets are unrecorded.
• Conduct desk studies, risk assessments, and optioneering for high-risk flooding areas.
• Manage coordination, assurance, and delivery of boundary wall programmes.
• Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

Essential Requirements
• Proven experience as a Rail Engineer in rail drainage, geotechnical, or lineside civil engineering.
• Strong background in project delivery, stakeholder coordination, and risk management.
• PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification or willingness to obtain promptly.

Desirable Skills
• Experience using InfoDrainage or similar modelling tools.
• Familiarity with geo-RINM mapping/correction and condition data workflows.
• Background in drainage optioneering and technical reporting.
