Pipework Design Engineer
Based in, Northwest | Salary circa £50,000 – £65,000 per annum, plus excellent benefits
DATS are working with a leading organisation in the nuclear and energy sector, seeking an experienced Pipework Design Engineer to join their Technical Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex process pipework design projects, working to high standards and supporting projects from concept through to installation.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop plant layout plans in cooperation with process engineers and customers.
• Produce concept designs for process pipework, including physical arrangements, routing optimisation, and support structures.
• Model and create drawings using E3D (AVEVA).
• Produce detailed designs and sequencing for in-house manufacturing.
• Participate in steel construction planning and coordinate steel construction and earthquake calculations.
• Present designs to internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Attend single- and multi-discipline design reviews.
• Maintain specialist knowledge of pipework design standards and practices.
• Provide pipework engineering support to the manufacturing department during production.
• Support installation and testing of pipework systems at customer sites.
About You
• Qualified in Mechanical Engineering.
• Several years’ experience in piping design for process or chemical plants.
• Knowledge of EU and US standards (EN, ASME).
• Proficient in E3D (AVEVA) or PDMS.
• Structured, precise, and results-oriented approach to work.
• Strong customer focus, motivation, flexibility, and teamwork skills.
• Experienced user of MS Office tools.
• Knowledge of French or German is advantageous.
• Flexible approach with willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.
• Minimum Security Clearance (SC) required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and high computer literacy.
