Plant Operator - Contract - Walkden
Location: Walkden
Rate: £17.17/hour PAYE
Hours: 39 hours per week
Schedule: Mon–Thurs (8 hours), Fri (7 hours) – 8:00am–4:00pm or 6:00am–2:00pm
Contract Length: 3 months
Start Date: ASAP
On-site: Fully on-site, no hybrid working available
We are currently recruiting for a Plant Operator to join our client’s site in Walkden on a 3-month contract. The successful candidate will play a vital role in safely managing the filling, inspection, and documentation processes of gas cylinders in line with operational procedures and safety regulations.
Plant Operator Essential Requirements:
- Valid FLT (Forklift Truck) licence
- Prior experience working on a chemical plant
- GCSEs or equivalent minimum qualification
- Computer literacy
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
Plant Operator Key Responsibilities:
- Operate pumps, cryogenic and non-cryogenic equipment to fill gas cylinders
- Handle and load cylinders using forklift trucks
- Complete and maintain accurate process documentation
- Conduct product analysis to ensure compliance with specifications
- Receive and check incoming product for conformity
- Raise any operational or quality issues to supervisors
- Inspect, clean, paint, label, and perform minor repairs on cylinders
- Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with PPE and hygiene regulations
- Conduct analytical instrument calibration checks
- Report quality issues or non-conforming product
Plant Operator Equipment Involvement Includes:
- Filling systems for O₂, N₂, Ar, CO₂, and other gas mixtures up to 230–300 bar
- Cryogenic and non-cryogenic pumps, vaporizers, and analyzers
- Forklift trucks and cylinder handling tools
- CO₂ and LOX minitank fill systems
- Computerised systems and documentation platforms
Please note: This is a UK contract role, and candidates will require eligibility to work in the UK to be considered for this role.
