Are you a HSE professional with a strong background in chemical safety and COMAH regulations? We’re looking for a dedicated HSE Manager to join our client's Standish team.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the HSE Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring legal compliance and promoting a positive EHS culture across all levels of the business. You’ll manage our certified management systems (ISO 45001 & 14001), lead incident investigations, oversee site compliance, and liaise with regulators and external bodies to ensure best practice is followed.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Managing and communicating Health & Safety systems (45001 & 14001)

Leading incident and accident investigations with root cause analysis and corrective actions

Ensuring legal compliance and maintaining the site’s legislation register

Planning and delivering site-wide HSE training and inductions

Supporting process safety activities including HAZOP, LOPA, and ALARP assessments

Leading emergency drills and maintaining both on-site and off-site emergency plans

Acting as the site’s Fire Officer and overseeing fire risk assessments

Managing the site’s COSHH assessments and environmental permit obligations
-
Driving internal improvements using the 12 principles of green chemistry

Leading internal audits and reporting HSE performance to senior management
About You
We’re looking for someone who can inspire and lead, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and risk reduction. You should be comfortable working across teams, able to communicate clearly with both internal stakeholders and external authorities, and always one step ahead when it comes to regulatory compliance.
Essential skills & experience:

Strong HSE leadership skills with a focus on safety culture

Experience in a COMAH site environment

Excellent knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and the chemical industry

Competence in COSHH, emergency planning, and risk assessments

Knowledge and practical experience of ISO 45001 & 14001

Proven internal auditing experience

Confident chairing meetings and presenting to senior leadership

Skilled in coordinating site-wide training
Qualifications Required

Degree in a relevant subject (Essential)

NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate (Essential)

IOSH Managing Safely (Essential)

Supervisory/Management qualification (e.g., ILM, NEBS – desirable)

Lead Auditor for ISO 45001 & 14001 (desirable)
