Senior Underground Engineer – Contract Role (Outside IR35)
Location: Surrey (Hybrid – 3 Days Office / 2 Days Remote)
Rate: £60 per hour Ltd Co

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Senior Underground Engineer to support delivery of detailed underground services design. The successful candidate will assist the overall lead in producing engineering deliverables for a major industrial project, coordinating closely with global teams and other disciplines.
Senior Underground Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Prepare design basis and specifications for underground services and materials
- Develop designs for paving, access roads, haul/service roads
- Produce designs for storm water management, culverts, drainage ponds, and process ponds including liner and leakage detection
- Perform drainage design calculations (storm water, hydrocarbon systems, sanitary waste, chemical waste)
- Contribute to erosion control and protection measures
- Design underground pipelines and utilities
- Generate and coordinate composite drawings for all underground services (drainage, firewater, potable water, cable trenches, etc.)
- Process topographic data from LiDAR, satellite and ground surveys
- Generate 3D models and drawings using Civil 3D for site preparation, grading, drainage, ditches, roads, paving, embankments
- Prepare material take-offs
Senior Underground Engineer Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Underground or Civil Engineer in major industrial projects
- Skilled in Civil 3D for 3D modelling and drawing production
- Strong background in drainage systems, utilities, storm water management, and earthworks
- Ability to process and work with topographic data
- Experience preparing composite underground layouts
- Effective communicator and team collaborator across multiple disciplines and locations
- Able to work under tight schedules and within defined budgets
