Description

We are on the hunt for an experienced Control System Engineer (Software) to join our team in the Cheshire / Wirral area.

 

Our client is searching for passionate individuals who are dedicated to decarbonisation and renewable energy. They are at the forefront of waste-to-energy innovation and biogas production, recently spearheading initiatives to replace methane with hydrogen in the drive towards a net-zero future.

This is a permanent role of 40 hours per week, though hours can be flexible. This role is based predominantly in the client’s head office, but will require occasional site visits, and has the potential for up to 2 days per week of working from home.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Software Development: Develop functional automation software programs that are easy to follow and fault-find. Testing: Conduct in-depth software testing with the commissioning team to ensure system repeatability and reliability. Advising: Train and advise junior software engineers on best practices and guidelines. Represent the company in client meetings. Collaboration: Work closely with site-based and commissioning engineers to improve standards and help the design team consider multiple project perspectives, including maintenance and decommissioning.

 

Secondary Duties:

 

Process Improvement: Analyse existing processes and offer improvements and suggestions. Commissioning Support: Assist the commissioning team during pre-FAT and FAT with software-related issues.

 

Requirements:

 

Minimum of 5 years of experience, ideally degree-qualified or with a time-served apprenticeship. Demonstrable experience working on complex automation software systems. Knowledge of gas analytical and metering systems is advantageous. Experience with industry-leading PLC hardware and software (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi) and the ability to integrate multiple sub-systems into the automation system. Strong communication skills to convey complicated problems and solutions effectively. Positive, can-do attitude and ability to adapt to changing situations. Confidence in overcoming a wide range of challenges and eagerness to learn new technologies. Organized approach to project work, including strict revision control and documentation.
