The search for an Agronomist

Specialist recruitment agency DATS were able to rise to the challenge recently when one of their clients asked them to help fill the more unusual role of an Agronomist within the biomass energy sector.

The role was ideal for a young graduate agriculturalist with a good understanding of animal nutrition, soil fertility and nutrients and that was looking for a little more in their career than the traditional path through sales, research or farm management.  The main responsibilities included management of feed and fertiliser trials, animal husbandry and ground crop trials. 

Armed with a long list of essential skills needed for the role, Pauline Smith, senior recruitment consultant at DATS set out to find the perfect candidate.  She quickly established she had a challenge on her hands and that people with the necessary attributes were few and far between; however using her expertise within the industry and the DATS knowledge bank the right person was eventually found – resulting in a full time contract being offered and a very delighted client: “I would like to thank you for finding him for us; it wasn’t an easy position to fill so you did very well”
