Job Vacancy: AIRCRAFT COMPOSITE/METALLIC STRESS ENGINEER
Our client have an immediate requirement for a Composite/Metallic Stress Engineer for a contract running upto Christmas 2008. Strong possibility that it would be extended.
LOCATION: BROUGHTON, CHESTER, NORTHWEST, NORTH WALES
SALARY AND BENEFITS: £26-30 PER HOUR
COMPANY INFORMATION:
Our client is the world's largest airliner, with the UK site responsible for wing, landing gear and fuel systems design. The requirement is on a contract basis at the Broughton site.
YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING
A minimum of 5 years working as an aircraft stress engineer involved in the analysis of composite and metallic structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods.
Aeronautical Engineering degree or equivalent.
Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
IDEALLY YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING
The ability to rapidly and confidently assess structural problems under pressure and to provide the appropriate direction and guidance to team members.
The ability to develop and coach less experienced stress engineers.
A good understanding of aircraft composites production methods and processes, especially if gained through involvement in MRB or similar manufacturing support activities.
The ability to ensure that solutions are technically integrated across the whole project.
Team Leaders with high regard for both internal and external customers, whilst maintaining Aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle.
ROLE INFORMATION:
Ensure Structural integrity of a (major) sub assembly of a product, either directly, or via team, carries out static stress calculations to assess design solutions for a whole range of tasks, ranging from concept design to manufacturing Concessions against the Aircraft Design requirements.
Ensure fatigue and damage tolerance requirements are met.
Liaise with other functions and project to ensure stress requirements are fully integrated.
Operate as an approval signatory for stress (Signatory Status desirable but not essential).
Assist in the structural design process to help ensure optimised design quality.
Report critical technical issues up through functional management.
Support on-going continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods, process and other capability improvements.
Provide technical leadership and approval for new participants; supply base and other sub-contracted work.
When required, undertake appropriate, associated project management tasks.
