Job Vacancy: E&I Department Manager
To manage their discipline engineers and designers in all non-project specific issues. To provide resource with the necessary skills experience and competency required by Projects/Project manager(s).
E & I DEPARTMENT MANAGER REQUIRED FOR OUR CLIENT BASED ON THE WIRRAL .

Principal Responsibilities
The department manager is responsible for the provision and control of suitable discipline resource as required by projects. He/she is responsible for all non-project related management of discipline personnel including recruitment, assessment, quality of work and training. He/she will control resource levels and personnel movement across projects by agreement with Project managers and the Projects director where necessary.
Project Responsibilities:-
1.Provide input to scope definition and estimating phases of projects using the Project Enquiry system as required by Project managers.
2.Provide and control resource requirements and levels to enable projects to be carried out cost effectively, to programme and to the necessary standard.
3.Approve drawings, calculations and reports as required by Project managers.
4.Assist Project managers in ensuring that the engineers design process plants, systems and units to recognised standards, taking into account:
i) British Standards
ii) HSE's Code of Practice
iii) CDM regulations
5.To keep up to date with own discipline developments,especially regarding regulatory requirements and standards.
General Responsibilities:-
6.To supervise, motivate and develop the engineers to enable them to take on more responsibility.
7.Identify and implement new procedures that will improve the effectiveness of the department.
8.Develop existing relationships with clients and identify and follow up new leads, which may result in further work.
9.Identify new clients and develop contacts to increase the Company's profile.
10.To assist project managers in ensuring discipline personnel carry out all job duties in accordance with the company's Quality System and the Health and Safety policy.
11.To demonstrate flexibility and company focus, and to perform any other tasks, which may be, required in order to ensure the efficient operation of the Company.
Peripheral Duties
Travel to/from sites of the client.
Occasional unsocial hours and overnight stays as necessary.
Liaise with outside consultants.
Liaise with internal departments.
Generally manage problem solving.
Liaise with/supervise sub contract(s) where applicable.
